Too Much Tuesday!

This post has a little to do with music-
so I thought I would share a pic of that band I was in

So much to share-
Where do I start?
First....my BIG news...



I opened my Tpt store........(apparently ya'll knew that because Stuck on A Word has been downloaded 145 times and I don't even have it listed on anything)

I'm feeling a little like Oprah!~
What??! Oprah doesn't have a store...why would you feel like her?

BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS FREEEEEEEEE!

I just thought instead of/ in addition to having a freebies page on my blog- I would put them in the Tpt store...that way if you are searching there for something in particular, you might be able to find it more easliy...and let's face it, adding stuff to the wishlist is so easy- and then you can download lots at once...love uncomplicated!

Second-
We have our Arts and Authors night this Thursday and First Grade's theme is Country Music.
We listened to it.
Looked at the history of it.
 We listened to it.
Read some articles about it.
We listened to it...

(Me no likey the C&W music- doesn't mean I don't appreciate the art of it- I just choose to listen to other genres-
for instance- ANYTHING THAT ISN'T COUNTRY MUSIC)

So after we listened to several instruments- I gave them this organizer (that is available in MY TPT fo free- just click it)!

I feel like I have to dance when I hear the drums.
I like the beat.
I think I want to learn how to play them.
I want my mom to get them for me for my birthday.

It was just easy to get our feelings out- We revised sentence fluency and made some corrections- but this organizer served as a nice springboard!

Third
We are decorating the entrance to our hall. We have C&W music.

BFF Neighbor Teacher and I worked on part of the decorations after school today. The instruments are almost as tall as a kindergartener! Grand Ole Opry =Grand Ole First Grade...of course I will take pics when we are done!

Fourth
We are working on Reagan's Mothers Day Unit.
Today we made the lemon sugar scrub- (some of us- still have some to do)

They loved it!

Of course it they were going to give it as a gift- they had to see what it did:
They were committed to exfoiliating!

All around the cuticles!

No one likes a flaky m & m!

 

The boys liked it too!

This sweetie tried to do her feet:)

I had the softest class today:)

And then I showed this product I googled to show them how much they were saving this mother's day!

Looks like they are saving...oh....around $49!!!!!

 I have to go get more ribbon tomorrow after school and then we will be done with that part! We have to get it all out of the room before the mom and dad's show up Thursday night!!

And I leave you with my fifth and final item

 My oldest son got this be-lated Bday card in the mail today....it "was his day to go nuts!"

I have a very important, thoughtful question to ask you tomorrow night-
really- I can't ask tonight because
my opinion on it makes me see

The Countdown Continues...

I think she's it's scared....It seems like she's it's hiding now... I don't know where she got the glasses, she really needs to stay out of  my  stuff!!!
She knows her days are numbered!!!! 3 days to be specific!

Tonight was an early celebration~ I am not sure how well I will be able to eat on the 7th- with all the work- so the MR and the Littles took me to Red Lobster...I ate soooo much! Onion Rings, Cheddar Biscuits, Salad, Cajun Chicken in Creamy Alfredo (the full size) and I think I had 4 drinks- {non- alcoholic}

So the bill comes and EVERYONE- except for me- whips out a gift card and says , "I GOT IT!"
They all had $25 gift cards! My mother in law sent a letter with all the gift cards to Chick-a-dee, and told her to plan it  all out! It was very sweet...and yummy!

We got home and I got started on a blanket for our neighbor's daughter. I totally let the date get away ...
probably my pre-occupation with THE BOX...
but we have a shower to go to this Friday night!

The nursery is jungle themed with pretty greens and browns- I love making this pattern! In the years between graduation and teaching I made like a gazillion baby blankets, big afghans, and hats....I have to get crackin' on this one though-

We formally start Money tomorrow-
I have no worries because it is in our daily calendar- so we have worked with money everyday for 125 days! Touch money is awesome!!!!!
My biggest worry is we do not have workbooks and do not have access to color copies- so the copies of coins are really crappy! It is because of this that I do a lot of performance based assessment and have them count and record {with and without me present}...I will have to nab some good B&W clipart and make a few more rubrics....I will be sure to share when I do:)

I  am also planning on another 6+1 full piece for the showcase portfolio...and I want lots of focus on the publishing and presentation so we are going to use our Unit time in addition to the writing block.

I have 2 friends from each grade level 2-5 coming to present a piece (their fav from the showcase that follows them) so they can see how their writing grows each year. My hope is that it motivates and inspires some of myr friends....

I will have to look up how to make a linky party....I think it would be neat for us to post one or two pieces and talk about it-
would you be up for that?

Help! Desperately Seeking...???

I have bookmarked so many things, and then when I go back to bookmark- I get distracted and can't remember what I bookmarked the blog for!!!
So to solve this, I started a little notebook (pad) to remind me why I have something marked.

One thing that I did not mark was a a wonderful idea about writing folders! I can't remember the grade or teacher. But it was awesome! She had a folder with 10 sheet protectors. Each one had the month on a sticker at the top and she kept their writings neat a separated like that....I fell in love with it and have spent the last two evenings revamping mine....I want to send her a comment and pick her brain for more writing ideas!

We have Friday off (yeah) and our Monday is going to be staff only (the kiddos will be home)...I have so much to share- so be prepared for lots of posts!!!!!

I FOUND HER!!! It's Mrs. Wheeler! @ Mrs. Wheeler's First Grade Tidbits ! I am so excited about it...and I couldn't have done it without Pinterest!!!!! Thanks for the advice ladies! I am going get pics of how I am using her wonderful idea in my class!
