A Little Classroom Management and a Mother's Day Wish

{source:http://www.flickr.com/photos/93226150@N00/3196183231/}

As of this moment- there are 11.5 days of school.
(10.5 for me- all of the Littles have dentist appts in the am- so I will be enjoying my time at home after I  drop them off at school)

This is going to be a BAH-IZZY week-

I have so much going on
(in my head)
that I can't think straight.

I went in this evening to get things ready for my substitute tomorrow.
I should have taken a picture of the table
with all of the stuff set out and all of the directions-
seriously, it is almost worth one of them
having a cavity...

Only kidding!
With all I have gone through with my grill????
NO ONE is missing a check-up!

Anyway,
I was in there and my eye caught this red box-
no, not that red box- although that would be awesome.

It is a red box that all the children in my room and all the children
in my neighbor's room fear!
It is frightening!
They have nightmares about it...

it IS just that awful- especially when you are 6 or 7.

What is this box? It is....

Have you ever seen one?
Well don't get your hopes up about seeing a real one tonight- because
I didn't have my camera when I thought about posting it. So I made this little demo box.

When I started spending more time with my neighbor teacher (6 years ago),
she had this in her room.
I had Never Ever seen one before, but she explained it to me.

If I tell you once to put it away ("it" being a toy that you are not supposed to have)
you better put it away and then you can take it home.

If I have to tell you again, it is going in the Never Ever Box. And if it goes in the
Never Ever Box- you will NEVER, EVER SEE IT AGAIN!!!!

I never made my own Never Ever Box. And I think it works out well for me.
If we have rings from cupcakes- blarg!-
or a large quantity of something that is really distracting us-
all I have to do is poke my head around the corner and
ask to borrow if for a minute
and you better believe that whatever was a problem, is a problem no more!

Now if it is something electronic or expensive, we handle it differently-
but that box is getting heavy....you should see the looks on their
faces when I shake it and you can hear all the stuff rattle inside!!!

(And if you are reading this, BFF Neighbor Teacher, you need to get your butt in gear and get your blog started! )

Ya'll are gonna love her!!! She is full of great ideas!

----------------------ME!-----------------------

I went shopping today for all of the ingredients for the presents my firsties are making for their moms this week.
It is from a unit designed by my buddy, the very talented Reagan.. at Tunstall's Teaching Tidbits.

You should check it out- you are going to love her ideas! We are going to be making the scrub this week.

While I was out, I very blatantly nonchalantly had the MR walk by MY wish  for Mother's Day.
It is like toile on the seat and that thingy over the chain- cute!
I know what you're thinking
"Squirrels can't ride bikes!!!"
Whatever- I have seen them water ski before!!!
I have my fingers crossed!
I think my two younger Littles would love to
have me go bike riding with them.

I tried it once with ChickaDees bike-
but the seat of her 375 speed bike
and my boo-tay did NOT like each other.

This bike has 1 gear-
it's called PEDAL.
OK, 2 gears- After you Pedal for awhile
you use gear #2- it is called STOP PEDALING.
({I don't like complicated}.

What are you wishing for this Mother's Day?

I also want a pretty basket for the front:)

I don't know what I would put in the basket- but I think I need one.

I also need to go to bed- because I still have to get up and get ready:)

Avengers Assemble!!!

Happy Saturday!

Since we are sharing Pageant Titles-
I thought I would share my winning pageant photo-
(Keep in mind it was before the last litter):

There was lots of family time to be had today- and during that family
time-
 I thought of you.
Yep-
I even made a note on my phone- so I wouldn't forget what I was going to say tonight.

I knew there would be one thing I would not have to write down to remember-
and I am sure I have ranted about this before-
but I DETEST, lOATHE, H.A.T.E. the movie theater.
I do.

I can't stand going.
It (like most things that make me cuckoo) has gotten worse over the years.

It isn't just the crowds.
It isn't just the loudness.
The darkness.
The unknown germy-ness on the seat.
The weird stickiness on the floor.
The weird germy, stickiness on the armrest.

Nope, it isn't any of those things
(although they are good reasons)
It is the RUDENESS!
People just talk and talk and talk.
And they rattle their popcorn bags.
And they slurp their drinks.
And they HAVE to make all that noise with their HARD CANDY in the BOXES
(Whose genius idea was that??!?)

Guess where we went today?
Yep, the movies.
But I had to go- because of my boys and the fact that there is
a 12 year old boy living inside of the MR
So we had to see the Avengers.

You know how I feel about metal
and the sound it makes, right?
Let's have a short overview of the characters in this movie:

Captain America- has a metal shield that deflects other metal things.
Thor- carries a metal hammer that makes lots of noise.
and IronMan.
He's IronMan- He wears a suit made COMPLETELY out of metal.

I was not looking forward to any of it-
the theater
the people
the movie
and then I thought
"Squirrels, you are going to have to take one for the team".

Squirrel-friends meet the team.

Thor- a BEE-U-TA-FUL Man!

Captain Ahhhh-merica

Short but sexy

The New HULK....more like HUNK!!
Suddenly, the theater wasn't so bad.

In all honesty, it really was a good movie:)

After the movie- we drove an hour away
for fast food.
Not just any fast food.

If you live near one- you are so lucky!
We used to have two of them.
It was my first job- ahem...22 years ago...wow.

But the closest one is an hour away now.
Maybe the churros and taco bravos and potato oles wouldn't be so awesome if they were still so close.
It makes for a fun drive.
The ride home is a little uncomfortable...since we all eat WAY too much
because who knows when we will get to go back!!

I did get a little musical show on the way there.
Part of it was just plain awful-
it was the Littles, singing in the van.

Reagan serenaded me as well....she really is a rock star:)

I also got a giggle as we took pictures of strangers in passing cars.
I quit after a while because I didn't want someone to go all
road rage on us:)

We arrived home just before dark-
very excited about the Super Moon.

I thought we would have some pinterest inspired fun and
make glow in the dark bubbles.

There is apparently a delicate balance between bubbles and toxic glowing liquid
because we only got a few good glowing bubbles out of it....boo hiss...

And my Super Moon pictures turned out Super Crappy...
I guess it's a good thing we had our fun earlier
in the day.

Tomorrow is a very busy day of hiding in the office and pretending
I have tons of work so that I do not have  to participate in weekend house cleaning...
(What am I going to do when summer gets here?!??!?)

I will be in there filling my Tpt cart with lots of TAD sales!!!!

Currently and a Funny

Yeah- I used to dread the beginning of the month- that seems like when all the bills are due- but now there is  a bright spot, thanks to Farley!!!

I think my platform would be : BE IN CHARGE!
I saw an Oprah show once (20 years ago) and she said
"You are no where in your life that you have not put yourself
or allowed yourself to be "

I have repeated that over the years-
and I love where I am because I choose to be there
(and because I get to boss people around) hee hee

I have a quick funny for you.

We are researching Country Music (don't ask)
and they are picking their favorite instruments.
They heard/saw several and when we heard each, we moved to the music.

I told them to let the music move you!
FEEL IT!

So J gets into the harmonica track
and starts pretending his (community) pencil is HIS harmonica.
He is blowing and sliding it  all over his lips and hopping
around...

Then R yells out
"EEEW! J GET IT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!!! THAT'S WHY WE'RE ALWAYS SICK!!!"

Hmm... where in the world could she have heard that....?

WHAT-THE-HECK?-WEDNESDAY!

What the HECK DID SHE JUST ASK ME??

So today started like every other day.

I walked next door to my BFF with my coffee
{source: http://uploads.neatorama.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Squirrel-Coffee-Cup_19143-l-500x333.jpg}

and asked her

{are you ready}

to shave my butt.

You should have seen her face!!!
Somehow a towel made it in the wash with my favorite black slacks
and the lint roller wasn't cuttin' it! It was like stuck.
So I had to break out a razor.

And then I did what everyone does-
I asked my friend to shave the lint off of my butt-

What?! Everyone does this, right?

Uh oh.

{I may need to revisit my
Things You Don't Ask Your Friend to Do
manual}

In case you are wondering- she did it.

She loves me!

I DO NOT have the pics that I promised
of my writing portfolios....insert sad face here.

Not because I didn't do them, I just forgot to take
pictures- which is odd- because I can't do anything without taking pictures
anymore.

We did have  some MaJoR Ah-ha moments in
writing today.

We were revisiting "VOICE" today
because I forgot to save a piece of work where we worked on that trait
because we are having a parent night in one week and I need something new to display
because their second grade teacher is going to expect them to use it when they write
because you can never be too excited about writing a personal experience piece!

A few of them are STILL not getting it.
I tried a few different explanations.....blah blah blah
and finally I said "How would you tell this same story to your grandma on the phone?"
and then I made that universal hand symbol for the phone
and started being goofy "Hey Granny, guess what!?!?!....."
And IT CLICKED!!!!
M and I and A just TOOK OFF WITH IT!
I was so excited- I said "THat's it! That's it!"
Write it like you are saying it-
and those were some FAn-freakin'-tab-u-lous sloppy copies!!!!

Simple, free, goofy.....like it, love it, use it-

WHAT THE HECK IS ON MY PORCH?

Speaking of love-

I rec'd my Blogger Exchange Pinterest Inspired present from Mrs. Cupcake today!!!
Isn't it adorable?
The middle is chalkboard- I haven't decided if I am going to use it as
a) Room # sign
b) the date
c) words o wisdom.....
Whatever I use it for- I will display it proudly! Thank you Mrs. Cupcake!!!

Check out my DEE-LISH-US midnight snack:
What the HECK is that???
CORNBREAD!!!

Ever had it? My Pop Pop used to have it all the time at night- but he used Sweet Acidolphilus Milk- Yuck!
Try it some time- Sooo good!

WHAT THE HECK is that dog doing??

Mr. Truman needs a bath and a trim!
Chickdee took a pic of him in her bed yesterday-
there's a reason this lazy dog is mine-
he loves naps too!

WHAT THE HECK was she thinking?

So, karma got me...
remember the Zip Tie post?

and I was making fun of the dumb dumb dummy heads who were using them and how they got ISS?
Chickadee got written up today and got ISS for the next two days!!!

Nope- she didn't fasten anyone to any type of furniture.
She looked at her phone to check HER TWITTER ACCOUNT!!!

She argued....EVERYONE HAS THEIR PHONES OUT!!!

I can't stand it when parents try to cover and make excuses-
she shouldn't have gotten caught had it out...so she gets to spend the next two days in
a room with all those derelicts who have been tying people to stuff in the building!!
I told her not to sit still for too long.

The worst part is going to be the "WALK OF SHAME" when the ISS room is walked IN A LINE -to go to lunch
no one walks in a line in HS
EVERYONE WILL SEE HER!!

I told her it will help build her STREET CRED when she is done doing her time!!
(Maybe we'll go get tattoos this weekend).

And I leave you with what could possibly be the dumbest squirrel in the THE WORLD -D-D-D!
Our class addiction to the Eagle Cam continues. There are archive pics. This one is from yesterday:
Where is he?
NEXT TO THE EAGLE'S NEST!!!
Doesn't he know eagles EAT squirrels??? Run to the FOREST RUN!!!!

Also, I won't be here tomorrow night.....boo! hiss!

Don't worry though- It's because I am Guest Blogging over at Pocket Full of Kinders!!!
Make sure you come see me, so I won't be lonely!
