WHAT THE HECK Wednesday!!!

It's Wednesday-
Wednesday the 11th.
Wednesday- the third to the last Wednesday of my summer vacay.
It's Wednesday.

That was rather poetic wasn't it-
I left out all the expletives in the third sentence.

I am happy to report to all of you ladies-
(I am assuming you are all ladies because I have never seen a
DUDE on my followers thingy)
All the DUDES in da house say
Heyyyyyy!
(Heyyyy)
Ho-oooo!
(Ho-ooo!)
Say Hey
(Hey)
Say Ho
(Ho)
Now wave your hands in the....

OKay, I'll stop-

Seriously, where was I ?
Oh, I was happily reporting that there are NO INJURIES
to speak of in the Squirrel Household!

Whoop Whoop

All though Chickadee narrowly escaped
what I would have called a
"self inflicted injury:
Why "self inflicted", you ask?
Cause SHE chose to have a less than pleasant tone with me today.

and that helps me begin

WHAT THE HECK WEDNESDAY!

(I should be a news reporter with all of my awesome segways)

WHAT THE HECK was she thinking???

I tell ya folks- I AM THE coolest mom-
on our street
in our town
of the world
EVER!

Maybe not THAT cool-
but the other kids always want to be here-
and they tell me I am cool-
because I make them say it or they don't get breakfast!

I try to remind Chickadee what life was like when I was 15 and all the
responsibility I had- and how I never had a choice about
said responsibilitiies..

She did not want to be helpful today and was very expressive
(no worries- no bad names or curse words)
Just not the tone that matches where
Her and I are at currently-

I didn't think I would do it-
but I  busted out with some of the classics..

"When I Was Younger" by Old School Mamas

"You Don't Appreciate What You Have" by The Ungrateful Dead

"If I Would Have Ever Spoken to My Mother in That Tone" by Scared Sh*tless

and our all time favorite
"As Long As You Live Under My Roof" by The Landlords

(And I don't even know what I pulled that card- she's only 15)

I was upset for a bit- but watching HER clean the kitchen was
a little bit of therapy!

-------------------------Me!-------------------------

I did do some stalking today.
I was watching the followers gadget
hoping it would move
(it did, I gained one very sweet follower today)

I wondered to myself
"Self, HOW THE HECK do people who don't know me get here?"

So I looked up my feedjit-
look at the search terms in purple
If you were looking up whether or not you broke your toe and a website with the name Squirrels popped up, would you go there???

Do they think a kid runs this blog? Or are they looking for a blog about squirrel children?

Second Grade? The words "First Grade" are in my blog title.

(of course- no matter how ya got here-
I'm glad you made it...kick off your shoes,
stay awhile)

Speaking of what's on our blogs....

Some of us allow for the ad thingys to display on our sidebars-
Careful muchachas!

WHO THE HECK pairs up the ads with the blogs-

i kid you not-
I was so shocked and amazed that I did what we all do..
I took a picture of it.

This ad came from a KINDERGARTEN blog-
OK- I know she LOOKS like she might be going
back to school
but I assure you that whatever she is taking classes on
is not allowed to be sold on Tpt-
you won't find any lesson plans by her, I am sure-

(and the "paying your way through college" thing only works for guys,
hot guys- MAGIC MIKE!)

And I am not trying to be crappy-
(ok I am) but she better hope the  FREE Mystery Gift
is either cellulite cream or a course in Photoshopping because
those thighs are not appealing...just saying..

I also had a third grade blog try to hook me up with
 HOT GUYS in MY AREA.
the AREA of Teaching?
or the AREA where I live?
What Area???
Cause if they are in the area of where I live and they teach- i would like to see them:)

It's after 10pm here- (almost 11)
and I have coffee brewing-
I've got quite a bit of crocheting to do-

So it looks like it is going to be a long
night with me, the coffee, the yarn, and the DVR.

-----------------------------------PLUG!---------------------
If you missed yesterdays/todays earlier post
please check it out.

I would love for you to see what i had worked on-
and hopefully it will be something that you need...wink wink

One on One Assessments

Hello from the land of Squirrelville!

It has been a few days- but I was in recovery

from the piggie incident.

I am all better now-

Unless you count The MR's injury-
and I kinda do-
only because it interfered with my day...

Does it just throw you off when they are home at a
different time than normal???
I can't go into too much detail
(Ahem...HI HONEY!)

but he was here- with a pulled muscle-
THAT HE WENT TO THE DR FOR!!!
I would like us all to take a moment to reflect on
MY INJURIES- and how we
DIDN'T seek medical attention.....

Anyway..

These last few days I have really been stressing about
the fact that I only have three weeks until I go back to school!
Am I going to be ready?
Is the full implementation of CCSS going to be rough?
Will it be a smooth transition?
Will we ever REALLY know how many licks it
takes to get to the center of a TOOTSIE POP???

AHHHH- So many questions!

Well to relieve some stress for the first few-
I took a peak at the CCSS for K-
to see what I am truly supposed to expect from them-

So much of what we do seems like it is pencil and paper-
but we also have to sit with them
and watch them
and try to see their train of thought
and listen to how they are thinking
and make sure our purses are locked up...

(wait that was something else altogether)

but you know what I mean...

So I went clipart shopping-
 (Love me some KPM Doodles)
and got to work!

These activities are intended for ONE on ONE use-
that time when they are with us (first grade) at the beginning of the
year and we need to see what they have come to us with..

Enough of the small talk-

Here are some pictures from my Activities for One on One Assessments Packet:

I created this packet for "Teacher Time" with my new first graders. I thought this would be a handy assessment tool.
With this packet I can assess:
number recognition
relationship of number to quantity
number order
Letter Recognition
Matching Upper and Lowercase
singular phonics
and high frequency word recognition.

These are some of the skills that our team assesses during the first couple of weeks with a new class.
And I can definitely see where and how I would have used these when I taught K!
Hope you find it helpful as well.

You can head over to my Tpt to pick it up-

I am very excited as this is my second run outta the gate at creating products-

I can't wait for your feedback-

(I'm going to have to break that one post day rule- because I think I have worked my way into Wednesday in some parts
of the country!)
See ya back here later!

Parties, Piggies, and Problems

The following is an excerpt from an actual conversation with The MR:

Him: Hon, who is Thirty One?

Me: Why?

Him: Because they authorized for a penny on our bank account.

(busted)

Me: Oh, cuz the party's not over.

Him: What party?

Me: The Thirty One party

(duh!)

Him: What do they sell?
(condescending tone)

Me: The CUTEST bags and totes and you can personalize them!!

(I raised my voice one octave as to sound younger and cheerful-
trying to deflect from the conversation)

Him: You don't have enough bags?

Me: I only have one with a squirrel on it and this one is going to have MISS SQUIRREL embroidered on it!!

Him: Did you get me anything? Maybe I need a new bag.

(now there's an undertone of sarcasm in his voice)

Me:  What would you put on your bag?

Him: "THE MR." What else???

So then we laughed and I thought-
are there any manly looking bags
and then I thought
there isn't anything manly about a
personalized tote-

But I am TOTALLY getting him a shirt personalized that says

THE MR.

I have a few items from Thirty One already- but they were all gifts -
so this is my first one to personalize...
I will pretend to be surprised when i open it-

Of course my memory is KAAAA-RAP these days-
so it just might be a surprise!!!

In case you are interested
(and I know you are)
my Froggy Friend, Lorraine is throwing this bash and it is
going on until the 15th!

There are some really cute prizes that you can enter to win, too!
Just click on that Glamorous Frog below to go check it out-

So this evening (despite the pain in my toes)
we went on a double date with the neighbors-

And I can call it  a "date" because
when the hostess walked us to our
table~
WE DIDN'T NEED KID MENUS!!
Whoo hoo!

I was able to eat and keep everything down
because NO ONE licked anything and
placed it on or in a shared surface-
I wanted to pepper and salt my food so badly-
but I am ANTI SHAKER for the rest of my forever!!!
I think I am going to have to steal
ask for some of those packets from McDs!

UPDATE ON THE PIGGIES-

It was decided last night that they are not broken.
Did a DR tell me this? Was I examined by a professional?
Were they xrayed?
No. No. and No.

The MR decided (in his infinite wisdom)
that they are NOT broken if he can
SQUEEZE THEM LIKE THIS!!!
(Imagine a hard grip on those precious pudgy piggies)

He said that I would have "gone through the roof"
if they were broken.
There was no way I could have "gone through the roof"
because I was too close to
PASSING OUT ON THE FLOOR!!!

It hurt. But because of his extensive studies in the field of broken toes, he was able to
determine that they are not broken, only sprained or bruised and they would feel better in the
morning.

(DON'T EVER TELL HIM- but they felt better this morning.)
I still limped around because they were sore-
I should totally get an award for my portrayal of
Best Actress in "I Can't Stand Up and Cook because My Toes Are Broken"
(coming soon to DVD)

(Oh, no- I have to go. The Littlest Little just asked me
"I know this will be a weird question- but how did I get here?"
That should be an ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME??? moment- )
Wish me luck!

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME?? Friday

Howdy Folks!

Wanna see pics of all the cool stuff I've done
in the last few days?

OK
Close your eyes...
Think of the coolest
craftiest
craziest
thing you can think of-

Got it?

Are you sure?

Great!

I am sure whatever you just pictured was FREAKIN' AWESOME!

Me? Not so much.

I DID get in there and cut and package up those centers that I said I would get done-
so Kudos to me!

I felt kind of bad for sending out the negative vibes on Wednesday
when usually you can find humor here....

so I decided to make it up to you
and post something similar today.

I am calling it:

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME?? Friday

(I wish there were more "Fs" in there.
I thought about the alternative to WTH-
but then I rethought that...)

I figured since I have nothing teachery to contribute (today): I might as well give ya a smile

Ready?

So, we went to dinner with a few  (new) friends last week.
It was a family affair. Everyone brought their Littles with them-
we ate, we talked, we laughed..
That is what WE did.
What the other family did was
TOTALLY IGNORE THE HORRIBLE BEHAVIOR OF
THEIR CHILDREN!!
Yeah, that's what THEY did.

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME???

I am sorry- but my children are not so old that I don't
remember what it was like to have a toddler/PreK
child in a restaurant-
so I am not this old biddy who complains about kids-

These children were wild-
WILD, I tell ya!

Towards the end of the dinner, I watched
one of them
lick his straw- from his drink-
poke it through the holes in the top of
the  cheese shaker,
lick it off of his straw
(wait for it.....)
AND HE PUT IT BACK IN!!!!!

And his all too attentive mama
said, "Cut that out."

AGHHHHHH! How many tables in this town have I sat down to
where they have been before-
I gasp and gurgle and gag
at the thought-

I vow to never sprinkle
ANYTHING from ANY shaker
ANYWHERE!!!!

 ___________________________________________________________

I tell my children the only thing worse than a sore loser
is an bad winner.

Play fair.

Play nice.

So today, I play the word
"Chez" on Words with Friends against The MR-

guess how many points-

guess-

102!!!!
SMELL IT!!!!

He was in the back when I hit send-
so being the
HORRIBLE WINNER
great sport  that I am-

I RAN to the back to rub it in his face to see if he recd it.

On the way back there- I slid in my socks
and ran into the wall
and my last three toes on my right foot
SLAMMED into the baseboard.

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME???

The ONE time I get a great word like that
against him
The ONE time I am all like
HA HA SUCKA IN YO FACE...
and I think I broke my toe(s)!

Okay- I am ALWAYS like that when we play a game-
but there was no need for my toe to be injured in this
nasty display of poor sportsmanship..

I put ice on them-
picture in your mind how big Tom's
toes get when Jerry hits them with a sledgehammer...
this is the throbbing pain I feel.

Actually, all joking aside-
they really do hurt

Remember Josh?

From Drake and Josh on Nickelodeon?

Have you seen him lately??

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME???

He's like a Li'l McDreamy now!!!

I wonder what his Dad looks like?

I am going to get my neighbor
who is a nurse
and who is also my sister
to come over and look at my toes...
OMGood Gravy!!! They hurt!

If the pain subsides, I am going to play around
on here and check emails-
I am waiting for a
*special someone*
to come off of her vacation
and send me another draft of my
NEW AND IMPROVED
redesigned blog

It's is going to be so FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!
The best way to describe it would
definitely be
GLITZY TRANSITIONAL---
I can't wait!

My bruised little piggies and I wish you a wonderful weekend!!!

There Is Work to be Done!!!

Today is the day.

Today is that day that I get in here and start tackling some of the projects that I brought home.

Today is the day that...

centers get cut!
(crowd is cheering)

envelopes get made (organized)!
 (hooray)

files get separated...
 (you can do it)

Whoa! The room started spinning for a second....too much too soon....
Let me catch my breath-

But by crackey- I'll have SOMETHING done by the end of the day! There is just soooo much!

While I was going through some of this stuff,
I was amazed at how colorful it all is- and how talented the artists
and creators are, and how much all of that ink cost!!!!

When I started blogging last fall, I was purchasing
lots of construction paper crafts and recording sheets.

I did not have access to a color printer at school and I did
not have one at home.

I quickly purchased one!
But still looked for and made B&W items sometimes so that I
could print and laminate at school.

One of the things I made for myself (class)
to use was a ring of Fry Phrases.

I loved the idea of them. I knew they would be great practice for quick drills,
games, parent volunteers, down time in the hall, pass and reads- the list could go on.
And I wanted to be able to make a few sets so I knew that black and white was going to be the way to go on this one!
Fry Phrases in Black and White

Since I found such great use in mine-  I thought they would be my perfect
First Paid item in my TPT!

Yep that's right- I am taking the plunge!

There are several fonts, and they are all large print, which makes it easier to use in groups.

Click the picture to head over to TPT and check it out!

I'd love to hear what you think of them!!!
